Trip Overview

A superb off trail trek offering all the glories of a wilderness rich in alpine diversity with rugged peaks studded with glaciers, wildlife and solitude. You will encounter steep ascents and descents over bedrock, talus and scree, mixed with easy walking. Most of the routes through the White Goat Wilderness were originally old outfitter’s trails. Mountain goats, Bighorn sheep, Caribou, marmots and pikas inhabit the alpine areas of the park.

White Goat Wilderness is situated just east of the boundary between Jasper and Banff National Parks and covers 445 square km of stunning alpine terrain. It is a land of unspoiled beauty; 3000 m high rugged peaks separated by wide valleys, hanging glaciers, colorful alpine wild flowers and infinite views. A profusion of wildlife can be witnessed, such as woodland caribou, moose, elk and bighorn sheep and on lower slopes, grizzly and black bear.
