The tour originates in Calgary, Alberta. During our active 3-day long weekend we will backpack to the spectacular Aster Lake on our first night. On the following day we’ll hike up and along the narrow, towering Northover Ridge then down to beautiful Three Isle Lake to our campground. Our final day will be spent hiking mostly downhill past the incredible scenery of Upper Kananaskis Lake. This hiking route is a 33.7 km loop with a total of 1180 m (3870 ft) elevation gain. Low point: 1725 m (5658 ft), high point: 2830 m (9282 ft). The average hiking distance is 11 km per day. Our first night’s accommodation will be in the rustic trapper’s tents at the “Sundance Lodge” in Kananaskis Country and then the next two nights we’ll be staying in lightweight backpacking tents surrounded by majestic alpine beauty and crisp fresh air. Meals are included and will be prepared by local restaurants and by our renowned guides/backcountry chefs. NOTE: All participants must have successfully completed 1 –2 Advanced + Hikes with Nomadic Routes or equivalent and have backpacking experience. From point of origin - Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Professional guides Equipment checklist and itinerary Guests Provide
As well, you will be responsible for and carrying your own personal backpacking equipment, outdoor clothing, your own beverages and snacks. Anticipate assisting with the common goals of the group including carrying your share of the group gear and food. Expect to carry a pack weight of about 12 - 15 kg (28 - 35 lbs) for 6-8 hours. Your participation in camp chores is happily encouraged. The Northover Ridge is not recommended for individuals with chronic or recent knee, ankle, back or hip injuries. Our experienced guides cannot compensate for your inexperience. The Northover Ridge is recommended for fit advanced level hikers. We recommend that you complete at least one or two over night backpack trips prior to this journey and have done at least 1 – 2 scrambles or advanced plus hikes.
